It replaces a 2013 Vizio 1080p set that was professionally calibrated. Let me first state that I had the Vizio professionally calibrated late last year and have received praise from visitors on the clarity and black level on the Vizio. Last Friday, I came home after work and picked up the mail. In there was a flyer from hhgregg. I typically pause near the trash can to junk all these kinds of flyers ... but this one caught my attention - a 55-inch Samsung 4K for $899. Apparently, they were celebrating Black Friday one week early. As my wife will vouch ... we really had no need for a new TV. The 55-inch Vizio was absolutely fabulous. Our sources were Over-the-Air network channels, Apple TV, Roku 3, PS3, Panasonic Blu-Ray. You will notice that I don't subscribe to cable. Instead I have connected an antenna to my Tivo Premiere and get superior quality network... I posted pictures to prove I own this set so people don't think I am talking out of my butt. I got this on Black Friday special at my local electronics store for a steal and I have nothing but good to say about this set. I would go as far as to say it gives my Panasonic plasma a run for its money because the blacks are that black.This set is replacing my main set a LG Infinia 47LW650 3DTV. My original intent was to go with another plasma set or a high end LG LCD set and I did end up getting a 4k LG set but quickly returned it realizing how much better this set is. First off for people thinking this is a stripped down set they are wrong. This set is incredibly fast on startup and options picture menu the OS and makes the LG set look like a Pentium 3 computer. Read more 33 of 41 people found the following review helpful Great TV for price., This review is from: Samsung UN55HU6840 55-Inch 4K Ultra HD 60Hz Smart LED TV (Electronics) Bought from hhgreg as well. replacing 8 year old 1080p 40" samsung, so that's really my reference point, I loved my old samsung so decided to go with the brand again, wasn't too sure about 4k so decided to go with this entry level model instead of spending the bigger $$$, for the money this is incredible. I was completely blown away by the picture quality compared to my older TV, the 55 screen is terrific, kinda of miss the large black border around the screen but I guess this is style for large TV's. Picture quality is terrific, I've been streaming netflix UHD content(they make u sign up for the highest steaming plan to get it and have a very limited selection of UHD titles currently, hoping this will improve with time.) There were several nature films in UHD that with the detail level so high looked 3d, very happy with it overall and hope it lasts 8+ years as well. 0 |
